Job summary

Walmart is seeking a Senior Supermarket Rack Refrigeration HVAC Technician in Virginia to oversee repair of refrigeration and HVAC assets across our Walmart facilities. You will use commercial HVAC skills, hand tools, and digital devices to complete assigned jobs and support store operations.

Responsibilities include responding to emergencies, documenting activities in the work order system, and ensuring compliance with OSHA/EPA guidelines while working up to 75 pounds and at heights as needed.

Qualifications

• 10 years’ experience in commercial Refrigeration HVAC maintenance
• EPA Type I/II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling
• Valid state-issued driver’s license with clean driving record
• 18+ with high school diploma or equivalent
• 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration
• 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration with AAS in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
• Completion of HVAC-R certification/ Journeyman where required
• Walmart store experience or related material handling exposure

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair Walmart facility refrigeration HVAC equipment using hand and power tools and diagnostic devices
• Use work order system to receive and document repair activities
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls
• Inspect and test facilities and equipment to diagnose issues
• Complete safety training and operate equipment safely
• Ensure OSHA and EPA regulations are followed per Walmart safety policy
• Lift up to 75 pounds and work at heights as needed

Job description

As a Senior Supermarket Rack Refrigeration HVAC Technician at our local retail store, your role will support and oversee repair within the Walmart facilities Refrigeration HVAC equipment team and assets by utilizing commercial HVAC and Refrigeration skills and using hand tools, digital tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs.

Minimum Qualifications

Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

• 10 years’ experience in commercial Refrigeration HVAC maintenance
• Large Scale Rack Refrigeration Experience
• Type I/Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification for Refrigerant handling
• Hold a valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report
• 18 years or older with a High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration
• 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
• Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling
• Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman
• 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report
• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years
• Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years
• No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years

Job Duties

• Maintain and repair Walmart facility's Refrigeration HVAC equipment and assets by utilizing commercial HVAC and Refrigeration skills and using hand tools, digital tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs.
• Utilize the work order management system to receive repair Work Orders to support Stores and Store associates and document repair activities.
• Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls.
• Inspecting, operating, or testing facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
• Complete all required training requirements to operate equipment and tools safely.
• Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency regulations and guidelines by performing work according to practices and procedures outlined in the Walmart Refrigeration HVAC safety policy and environmental guidelines.
• Lift up to 75 pounds, move up and down ladders, and comfortable working at heights frequently

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year technical/vocational HVAC/R program or 2-year associate’s of applied science A/C and refrigeration.
• Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Prior work experience with Glycol and C02 systems.
