Base pay range

$40.00/hr - $65.00/hr

Description
  • Works under general supervision, to conduct and monitor laboratory experiments utilizing established and published procedures, and technical and theoretical understanding.
  • Needs to make recommendations to resolve problems encountered during experimental procedures.
  • Assumes responsibility for the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of experimental results.
  • Summarizes experimental results, and reviews conclusions with supervisor/project leader.
  • Communicates results of experiments in the form of reports and presentations.
  • Keeps supervisor/project leader informed of project status, particularly of significant findings and results in critical problem areas.
  • Performs work according to established internal safety guidelines and procedures, and as specified by appropriate external regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA).
  • Analyzes experimental data using various data analysis software and/or applying quantitative methods. Forms conclusions, and provides process improvements.
  • Uses technical writing skills to produce reports and documents. May present findings at internal meeting.
  • Assumes accountability for own electronic notebook documentation, ensuring experimental methods and results are recorded timely, accurately and consistently, and according to established formats.
  • Participates in routine lab maintenance, lab safety, ISO, and QSR implementation.
  • May troubleshoot issues related to instrumentation.
  • Receives general instructions; plans and executes own work.
  • Keeps informed of trends and developments in area of scientific responsibility.
  • May establish and work with individuals or teams outside of immediate functional area or RMD.
  • Knows and effectively uses the broad concepts of a particular field or specialization to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity.
  • Analyzes alternative approaches to solve problems or develop new perspectives on existing solutions.

Minimum Requirements (Education & Experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in life sciences, chemical sciences, or related field with 5–10 years of directly relevant industry experience.
  • Master’s degree (MS) with 5–10 years of directly relevant industry experience.
  • Ph.D. with 0–3 years of directly relevant industry experience.
Required Technical Skills
  • Strong hands‑on experience in techniques relevant to the job family (e.g., molecular biology, biochemistry, phage/yeast/mRNA display, PCR, ELISA, cloning, assay development, etc.).
  • Ability to execute experiments independently and accurately.
  • Experience troubleshooting assays and optimizing protocols.
  • Clear and consistent documentation practices in a research or regulated environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to manage small workstreams or independent experimental tracks.
  • Experience collaborating in cross‑functional scientific teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Other Qualifications
  • Ability to design and execute relevant laboratory experimentation and determine next steps within the context of overall project goals and direction.
  • Subject to OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Standard — routinely handle blood, blood products, body fluids or other potentially infectious materials.
  • Subject to respiratory protection standard — work with potential hazardous chemicals, radiological hazards, biological hazards. Wear personal protective equipment, such as eye, foot, lab coat, gowning coveralls, wear respirator dust mask cartridge/air purifying supplied air wear, hearing protective devices, confined space work.
