Job summary

Burpee is seeking a Senior Director, Retail Sales (U.S.) to drive revenue and profitable growth of packet seed and seed starting products across the U.S. retail channel. You will manage key customer relationships, develop annual sales budgets, and align sales commitments with operations.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on growing Burpee’s business in a seasonal, competitive market while strengthening relationships with major national retailers, independents, and regional customers.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of relevant commercial leadership experience.
• Proven ownership of revenue in fast-moving consumer goods, preferably in highly seasonal categories.
• Strong category management capability, including pricing, assortment, and performance analysis.
• Experience leading sales across multiple retail channels, including mass, food, home improvement, and farm & fleet.
• Ownership of forecasting and delivery against annual revenue and budget targets; experience in lawn and garden or similar seasonal categories is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or graduate degree highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver sales revenue across U.S. retail channels with seasonally driven performance.
• Set and execute commercial strategies across Mass, Food, Home Improvement, and Farm & Fleet for growth and margin.
• Balance growth from existing customers with new profitable retail distribution.
• Own end-to-end seasonal in-store execution, tracking, and corrective actions to meet budgets.
• Establish and enforce KPIs tied to revenue, margin, and sell-through for key accounts.
• Build senior-level customer relationships and lead annual account planning.
• Drive disciplined category management and pricing decisions using data.
• Manage operating budgets for profitable execution.
• Recruit, develop, and lead a lean high-performing sales team.
• Serve as an active and hands-on senior leader across Burpee.
