Job summary

HelloFresh seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to design, implement, and improve automated material handling and technology within its fulfillment network. You will interface with vendors, lead analytics, optimize DC layouts, and justify CapEx for new tech, including GenAI enhancements.

You will travel up to 25%, potentially 50% during project implementations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• BS Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar field required.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in multi-site industrial distribution, manufacturing, or processing environments preferred.
• 5+ Years experience with SQL (Snowflake, MSSQL) and advanced data visualization tools (Tableau, Grafana, etc.)
• Experience with simulation software (FlexSim, etc.) and MOST modeling
• Experience with using Warehouse Control Systems (WCS/WES) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude and an ability to understand how equipment and systems operate.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, professional attitude, and approach (and the ability to interact with individuals at various levels of the organization, up and down).

Responsibilities

Senior Automation Engineer

The Senior Automation Engineer brings technical experience in designing, implementing, and improving Automated Material Handling Systems and Technology within the fulfillment network. This role works closely with functional stakeholders, vendors, and other engineers to solve problems and reduce fulfillment costs with minimal direction.

You will …

• Interface with external vendors and system integrators to design automated order fulfillment solutions. Scope and stay up to date on top industry technology such as AMRs, Robotics, ASRS, sortation systems, etc.


• Lead data analytic efforts for designing Automation and Material Handling Systems. Ability to extract clear and concise outputs from messy inputs.


• Analyze large sets of data and provide clear and actionable insights. Creating operations-facing productivity dashboards and being a pioneer for leveraging data to measure success.


• Optimize Distribution Center layouts, material flows, Automation equipment, etc.


• Work collaboratively with cross-functional team members to ensure their business needs are met by new system designs.


• Support business case justification for new technology, CapEx purchases and process enhancements.


• Translate complex technical information into simple documentation and presentations, independently.


• Leverage GenAI to automate time consuming tasks and improve internal processes.

• Experienced in equipment selection, design, standards, performance improvement, statistics.


• Able to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others.


• Able to analyze and provide solutions for cost reduction through automation implementation and cost/benefit analysis.


• A superior multi-tasker, and have the ability to meet concurrent project deadlines.


• Known for delivering polished, high quality presentations and reports that influence and accelerate business decision making


• Able to travel up to 25%, peaking up to 50% during project implementations.

You have…
