Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Urology Technician to perform catheterizations, bladder scanning, and related home-care education. This role supports inpatient and ambulatory settings across St. Marys and downtown/Methodist campuses, operating a mobile supply cart between calls.

Requires a high school diploma or GED; female team member position. BLS certification either current or provided during orientation. 0.8 FTE day/evening rotating shifts with weekend load.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or successful completion of GED. Previous health care education or experience.
• Hospital medical background preferred.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable fluctuations in workload volume.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
• License or Certification: Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from AHA/Red Cross; will be included if not current.

Responsibilities

• The urology technician provides urinary catheterizations, urinary drainage tube irrigations, ultrasonic bladder scanning, and reinforces home-go­ing education related to self-catheterization or urinary drainage tube irrigations.
• Responds to calls in the inpatient and ambulatory setting at the St. Marys campus and downtown/Methodist campus.
• Pushes a mobile supply cart from call to call.

Responsibilities

The urology technician is an individual who, through didactic and supervised practice, has acquired the knowledge and developed the skills necessary for providing urinary catheterizations, urinary drainage tube irrigations, ultrasonic bladder scanning, and reinforcement of home-going education related to self-catheterization or urinary drainage tube irrigations. The urology technician is responsible for responding to calls in the inpatient and ambulatory setting at both the St. Marys campus and downtown/Methodist campus. Individuals push a mobile supply cart from call to call.

Qualifications

This is a Female team member position.

High school diploma or successful completion of GED. Previous health care education or experience.

Additional Qualifications :

License or Certification :

If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
