Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is seeking a urology technician to support inpatient and ambulatory care at St. Marys and the downtown/Methodist campuses. You will perform urinary catheterizations, bladder scanning, and related patient education, with rotating day/evening shifts and weekend coverage.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED; health care education or experience preferred. BLS certification can be provided if needed. Nonexempt, full-time position with 64 hours per pay period.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support may be required and certification provided if not on file.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide urinary catheterizations, urinary drainage tube irrigations, and ultrasonic bladder scanning.
• Reinforce home-going education related to self-catheterization or urinary drainage tube irrigations.
• Respond to calls in inpatient and ambulatory settings at St. Marys and downtown/Methodist campuses.
• Push a mobile supply cart between calls.

Responsibilities

The urology technician is an individual who, through didactic and supervised practice, has acquired the knowledge and developed the skills necessary for providing urinary catheterizations, urinary drainage tube irrigations, ultrasonic bladder scanning, and reinforcement of home-going education related to self-catheterization or urinary drainage tube irrigations. The urology technician is responsible for responding to calls in the inpatient and ambulatory setting at both the St. Marys campus and downtown/Methodist campus. Individuals push a mobile supply cart from call to call.

Qualifications

This is a Female team member position.

High school diploma or successful completion of GED. Previous health care education or experience.

Additional Qualifications :

Hospital medical background preferred. Ability to work independently. Ability to adapt to unpredictable fluctuations in workload volume. Knowledge of basic computer skills. Knowledge of aseptic techniques.

License or Certification :

If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
