Job summary

UCHealth in Fort Collins is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide care for urologic patients under RN or provider supervision and to assist with minor procedures.

The role requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and BLS, with on-site duties including patient prep, specimen handling, and assisting physicians during exams and minor surgeries.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program through an accredited school or documentation of a medical program that meets the criteria of a medical assistant program such as military prepared corpsman or medic.
• Trained in urological procedures through vocational or post-hire on-the-job physician training.

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient history and vital signs.
• Explains procedures, documents care, and communicates findings with RN and Physician.
• Assists with urologic radiographic and ultrasound examinations and cystoscopies.
• Performs UDS studies with Provider is present.
• Assists with minor surgical procedures.
• Performs urinary catheter insertions and removals.
• Performs laboratory duties.
• Assists with simple dressing changes.
• Communicates prescription refill requests to Physician and calls in refills to pharmacy.
• Performs delegated clinical tasks with a written provider order.
• Collects or prepares specimens.
• Administers medications and injections per practice-specific guidelines.
• Sends specimens to testing laboratory.
• Communicates abnormal results to providers.
• Cleans and restocks rooms, supplies and equipment.
• Transports patients.

Pay: $20.87 - $27.13 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

Summary

Minimum Required Education: Completion of a Medical Assistant program through an accredited school or documentation of a medical program that meets the criteria of a medical assistant program such as military prepared corpsman or medic. Trained in urological procedures through vocational or post-hire on-the-job physician training.

Required Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Relevant certification as determined at position level.

Minimum Experience: 1 year of healthcare related experience.

BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
