Job summary

UCHealth Ft. Collins Medical Clinic in Colorado is seeking a Medical Assistant to support urology services. The role provides care to urologic patients under RN or provider direction and assists with minor procedures.

Onsite schedule is full-time, every two weeks, with day shifts and hourly pay between $20.87 and $27.13. Responsibilities include history taking, vital signs, specimen handling, and coordination with physicians and pharmacy for refills, along with basic lab duties and room

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program through an accredited school or equivalent.
  • BLS Healthcare Provider certification is required.
  • Minimum 1 year of healthcare-related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient history and vital signs and explain procedures.
  • Assist with urologic radiographic and ultrasound examinations and cystoscopies.
  • Perform delegated clinical tasks with a written provider order and manage specimens.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures and administer medications per guidelines.
  • Communicate refill requests to physicians and coordinate with pharmacy.

Work Schedule: Full Time, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift: Days

Pay: $20.87 - $27.13 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

Summary:

Provides care of urologic patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse or provider and assists with minor procedures.

Responsibilities:

Obtains patient history and vital signs. Explains procedures, documents care, and communicates findings with RN and Physician. Assists with urologic radiographic and ultrasound examinations and cystoscopies. Performs UDS studies with Provider is present.

Assists with minor surgical procedures. Performs urinary catheter insertions and removals. Performs laboratory duties. Assists with simple dressing changes.

Communicates prescription refill requests to Physician and calls in refills to pharmacy. Performs delegated clinical tasks with a written provider order. Collects or prepares specimens. Administers medications and injections per practice-specific guidelines.

Sends specimens to testing laboratory. Communicates abnormal results to providers. Cleans and restocks rooms, supplies and equipment. Transports patients.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Minimum Required Education: Completion of a Medical Assistant program through an accredited school or documentation of a medical program that meets the criteria of a medical assistant program such as military prepared corpsman or medic. Trained in urological procedures through vocational or post-hire on-the-job physician training.

Required Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Relevant certification as determined at position level.

Minimum Experience: 1 year of healthcare related experience.

BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
