Job summary

UrgentVet is seeking a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant for our Cypress, TX clinic. You will support emergency and routine care, assist veterinarians, and provide excellent client service in a fast-paced, paperless environment with cloud-based EMR and IDEXX in-house lab equipment.

The ideal candidate has animal handling experience, strong communication skills, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.lifting 40 lbs and training on-site may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience handling animals with restraint and care.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood sample handling.
• Ability to place catheters and perform routine lab analyses.
• Ability to calculate medications and dosages accurately.
• Maintenance and cleaning of clinic facilities and equipment.
• Ability to educate clients about pet care.

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding patient care in a fast-paced urgent care clinic.
• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations and procedures.
• Support client service and education to pet owners.
• Contribute to team leadership and clinic operations as needed.

UrgentVet bridges the gap between daytime general practice and emergency/overnight care, offering after-hours care for canine and feline patients without the additional expense of emergency clinic fees. Our hospitals offer care for common urgent cases, including wound management, ear infections, vomiting/diarrhea, and euthanasia. Each of our paperless clinics is specially designed to deliver efficient care and equipped with cloud-based EMR, digital x-ray, and a full suite of IDEXX in-house lab equipment.

Ideal Candidate

• Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, healthy and positive communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a hands-on environment
• Energetic people-and-pet person with excellent work ethic and social and organizational skills
• Willing to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Full-time employees may be required to travel for on-site training and onboarding
• Prior customer service experience
• Prior experience working with animals in a hospital setting
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs
