Job summary

Carson Tahoe Health is seeking a Per Diem Urgent Care Technician in Carson City to support providers and nurses under supervision.

Under the direction of the registered nurse, the technician will perform patient intake, POC testing, wound care assistance, and lab-related tasks while maintaining accurate records and following established protocols.

Qualifications

• Current BLS for healthcare providers certification or obtain within 14 days of hire.
• Current State of Nevada Office Laboratory Assistance Licensure or obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains professional competence through education, workshops and unit education; attends required meetings and keeps records.
• Performs patient care under the direction of a RN or Provider and reports deviations promptly.
• Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team and supports other staff as needed.
• Acts independently and makes decisions under stress as necessary.
• Performs clinical duties per location protocols and assists in wound care and splinting as ordered.
• Handles patient intake, runs POC testing, maintains lab records and laboratory area.
• Orders supplies for the clinic as needed.
• Familiar with hospital IT systems to complete daily tasks and seeks training when needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Summary

Under the direction of the registered nurse, Advanced Practice Clinicians or Physician, the technician will provide supportive care to the Urgent Cares.Responsible for assisting providers and nurses with patient care, environmental and organizational tasks, while providing information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services.

Qualifications

Required:

• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)for healthcare providers Certification or obtain within 14 days of hire
• Current State of Nevada Office Laboratory Assistance Licensure or obtain within 6 months of hire

Essential Functions

• Maintains professional competence through formal education, workshops and unit specific education.Maintains current education file.Attends 80% or greater staff meetings, review and initials those meeting minutes not attended. Completes unit mandatory education and annual employee health requirements.
• Competently performs patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and/or Provider, identifies deviations from norm, and reports findings in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Demonstrates ability to work effectively as a multi-disciplinary team member, supports and assists members in all activities.
• Able to act independently and make decisions under stress as necessary.
• Performs technical duties according to established protocols for each location.
• Performs intake of patients, runs POC testing, maintain laboratory records/laboratory area, assists in wound care needs, and splinting needs of patients as ordered by provider.
