Job summary

South Shore Health System in Abington, MA is seeking a part-time medical assistant for the Health Express at Abington. You will greet patients, assess needs, obtain history and vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations.

Compensation Pay Range:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintain patient's safe passage in and out of the practice
• Greet, assess and interview patients
• Obtain past medical and surgical history, family history, social history, vital signs
• Review present medications, allergy history, chief complaint
• Prepare and assist patients for examination, treatment, or procedure by provider
• Anticipate needs of patients, and the provider
• Monitoring of patient during examination, or procedure
• Maintain patient care areas
• Stocking and ordering of supplies as needed, and maintaining clean exam rooms
• Charge and code supplies, medications, and procedures
• Respond to patient`s concerns in person or by telephone while simultaneously documenting the problem
• Maintains patient confidentiality
• Administers medications and IVs per physician’s orders
• Perform a variety of preliminary procedures, including phlebotomy, injections, throat cultures and more

Schedule and Location

Schedule and Location vary weekly, including rotating weekends and holidays. Required - 2 weekend shifts per month. Operation hours Monday - Friday 9a-7p (10-hour shift), Saturday - Sunday 9a-4p (7-hour shift).

License/Registration/Certification Requirements

• ACLS (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
• Emergency Medical Services EMT Paramedic - Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) - Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS)
• INSTRUCTOR- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
• INSTRUCTOR- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
