UrgentVet Hospitals in New Britain is seeking a Senior Veterinary Assistant to provide high-quality patient care in a state-of-the-art urgent care clinic. This role supports team leadership and ensures exceptional client service in a busy environment.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on animal handling experience, clinical skills, and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prior hospital experience is preferred and on-site presence is essential.

• Experience handling animals including restraint and monitoring.
• Clinical skills such as phlebotomy, catheter placement, and basic lab work.
• Experience in a hospital setting with client communication.

Urgent Care Senior Veterinary Assistant

Description

UrgentVet bridges the gap between daytime general practice and emergency/overnight care, offering after-hours care for canine and feline patients without the additional expense of emergency clinic fees. Our hospitals provide care for common urgent cases, including wound management, ear infections, vomiting/diarrhea, and euthanasia. Each of our paperless clinics is designed to deliver efficient care and is equipped with cloud-based EMR, digital x-ray, and a full suite of IDEXX in-house lab equipment. We are seeking a full-time or part-time Senior Veterinary Assistant to help provide outstanding patient care, team leadership, and client service in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art urgent care clinic. Ideal Candidate

• Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, healthy and positive communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a hands-on environment
• Energetic people-and-pet person with excellent work ethic and social and organizational skills
• Willing to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Full-time employees may be required to travel for on-site training and onboarding
• Prior customer service experience
• Prior experience working with animals in a hospital setting
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs
• Regular on-site presence is an essential function of the role. In-person attendance is necessary to support patient care, respond to time-sensitive needs, collaborate with clinical teams, and maintain the safety and well-being of patients, clients, and staff.
