Prisma Health UC by WellStreet, LLC is seeking a Remote Supervising Physician to provide oversight, consultation, and support to APPs in accordance with SC laws and Prisma Health Urgent Care policies. The role involves a formal supervising relationship and remote, SC-resident practice under applicable standards.

The physician will offer clinical direction, review APP documentation, and participate in quality improvement while ensuring patient safety and appropriate escalation when needed.

Qualifications

• Must reside in the state of South Carolina.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible and licensed to practice medicine in SC.
• Current DEA registration.
• Experience with procedures including suturing and drainage of abscesses.
• Experience reading diagnostic studies, including X-rays and EKGs.
• BLS certification (we will provide this if needed).
• Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing by Prisma Health Urgent Care / WellStreet.
• Experience in Urgent Care, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely clinical consultation and support to APPs during supervision or coverage periods, by phone or other approved methods when remote.
• Provide clinical guidance and review cases requiring physician involvement, including high‑risk complaints, abnormal vital signs, ECGs, and escalation needs.
• Provide appropriate clinical direction and recommendations for evaluation, treatment, changes to the plan of care, follow‑up, or escalation.
• Review and cosign APP documentation as required by law, credentialing, or policy.
• Provide additional clinical support and case review during orientation or enhanced supervision periods.
• Participate in quality improvement and peer review activities related to APP practice.

Description

We Are Hiring Remote Physicians for APP Supervision & Clinical Support

As a Prisma Health Urgent Care Remote Supervising Physician , you will provide clinical oversight, consultation, and support to Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, Prisma Health Urgent Care policies and procedures, established clinical standards, and organizational needs.

The physician will be assigned a formal South Carolina Medical Board supervising or collaborating physician relationship and will be responsible for fulfilling all applicable oversight, documentation, clinical review, delegation, and related responsibilities associated with that assignment.

This is a fully remote position; however, the physician must physically reside in the state of South Carolina .

In This Role, You Will:

Provide timely clinical consultation and support to APPs during assigned supervision or coverage periods, including by telephone or other approved communication methods when you are not physically present at the center.

Provide clinical guidance and review cases requiring physician involvement, including high-risk complaints, critical findings, abnormal vital signs, ECGs, and other situations requiring physician escalation.

Provide appropriate clinical direction when concerns arise, including recommendations for additional evaluation, treatment, changes to the plan of care, follow-up, or escalation to a higher level of care.

Review and cosign APP documentation when required by applicable law, credentialing requirements, or Prisma Health Urgent Care policy.

Provide additional clinical support and case review for newly hired, newly credentialed, or otherwise designated APPs during orientation or enhanced supervision periods.

Participate in applicable quality improvement and peer review activities related to APP practice, including providing clinical feedback and escalating significant quality or patient safety concerns through established processes.

Support APP practice within the provider’s authorized scope of practice and applicable requirements related to physician supervision, collaboration, delegation, and prescriptive authority.

Daily APP Support & Coverage

Prisma Health Urgent Care utilizes a team-based physician coverage model.

Depending on operational needs, you may serve as the Supervising Physician for your assigned centers on certain days. In this capacity, you will provide clinical consultation and support to APPs within your center and, when needed, to APPs practicing at surrounding Prisma Health Urgent Care centers.

Daily physician coverage and support responsibilities are separate from formal South Carolina Medical Board supervising or collaborating physician assignments and may or may not correspond directly with the APPs assigned to you under an individual supervising or collaborating physician agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

Must physically reside in the state of South Carolina
