Job summary

GoHealth Urgent Care in Vernon, Connecticut is seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners with urgent care, ER, or high-acuity family medicine backgrounds to join our diverse team.

As a GoHealth Urgent Care provider, you will float within 30 miles of your home center, providing high-quality acute care to both adults and children.

Qualifications

• One year of full-time Emergency Medicine experience or two years in Family Medicine.
• Bachelor's degree required for Physician Assistants; Master's degree required for Nurse Practitioners.
• National Certification is required; active state medical licensure is required.

Responsibilities

• Examine and treat patients in urgent care settings.
• Take patients' medical histories and document thoroughly.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and X-rays.
• Make diagnoses and prescribe medications as appropriate.
• Provide vaccinations and referrals to additional care as needed.
• Educate and counsel patients and families on treatment plans.

The range above reflects the good-faith salary range the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend on experience, skills, education, and other business-related factors. The salary range is based on .9 - 1.0 FTE and will be adjusted proportionally based on the approved FTE.

Job Summary

Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.

Job Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
• Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners

Work Experience

• One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine setting experience required. Will consider 2 years of Family Medicine experience.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• National Certification
• Active state medical licensure

Additional Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred
• Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc.
• Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required.
• Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Preferred

• Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
• Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
• Strong communication and customer service skills

Essential Functions

• Examining and treating patients
• Taking patients’ medical histories
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
• Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
• Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
• Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
• Educating and counseling patients
• Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
• Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
• Each provider will work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift which will be assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care
• All other duties as assigned
