Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for our Urgent Care team covering the Baltimore region, including our Rotunda, Belvedere and Dundalk clinic locations.

You will lead clinical care, collaborate with medical assistants and radiologic technologists, and treat patients aged one and older with a broad range of conditions. Required Maryland licenses (NPI, DEA, CDS) or in process; urgent care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Maryland in good standing.
• Active NPI, DEA and CDS licenses/registration required or in process.
• Prior urgent care, emergency, ICU, or primary care experience preferred.
• Growth-minded, enthusiastic about urgent care medicine and open to feedback.

Responsibilities

• Provide urgent care to patients aged 1+, including acute illnesses and minor injuries.
• Lead clinical team in centers and collaborate with medical assistants and radiologic technologists.
• Work 12-hour shifts 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., typically 3–4 shifts per week.
• Deliver high-quality patient care and outstanding patient experiences.

UM Urgent Care providers serve as clinical leaders in our centers- delivering exceptional medical care, fostering outstanding patient experiences, and working collaboratively in a close-knit team environment with medical assistants and radiologic technologists. We care for patients ages one and older, treating a wide range of conditions including upper respiratory infections, sprains and strains, lacerations requiring sutures, employee health physicals, work-related injuries, and preoperative evaluations.

Providers work 12-hour clinical shifts (8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.), typically 3 to 4 shifts per week, totaling approximately 12-14 shifts per month. Urgent care is a fast-paced, dynamic environment that offers a broad spectrum of patient presentations, ranging from acute illness to minor injuries.

Work Experience

Candidates must be licensed Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants in good standing with the state of Maryland, or have licensure pending approval. An active NPI number, DEA registration, and CDS license are required, or the candidate must be in the process of obtaining them.

While not required, prior clinical experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, intensive care, or primary care settings- whether as a provider, nurse, or technician is strongly preferred.
