Urgent Care - Nurse and Radiologic Technologist - Per Diem

Job Description

In this hybrid role, the team member will plan and provide direct professional nursing care for specified patients throughout the entire episode of service delivery, as defined by population and unit. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the standards of practice of a professional nurse, CCMC policies & procedures, TJC, and State & federal regulations. Operates general, fluoroscopic, and portable radiographic equipment to perform a variety of radiology examinations/procedures on pediatric inpatients/outpatients. Applies prescribed ionizing radiation solely for diagnostic quality images under the supervision of a Physician.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Practice: Demonstrates clinical expertise and uses the nursing process daily to provide safe, appropriate care according to CCMC, CCSG, and unit policies and standards.
  • Population Specific: Demonstrates knowledge of the needs of patients from neonate through adolescence, applying cultural sensitivity in all interactions.
  • Unit Leadership: Delegates duties, contributes to leadership as Resource Nurse or mentor, and supports department productivity and resource management.
  • Documentation/Communication: Completes all documentation timely and communicates effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Patient/Family Partnership & Education: Partners with families, evaluates outcomes, and provides education regarding care.
  • Standards & Protocols: Adheres to safety, imaging, and documentation standards, ensuring quality and safety in radiologic exams.

Additional role-specific responsibilities include triage, emergency care, legal considerations, and community education. Supervisory responsibilities include oversight of Medical Assistants.

Qualifications

  • ASN required; BSN preferred upon hire and within 3 years.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program; ARRT(R) certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years pediatric and/or emergency clinical experience preferred.
  • Current CT RN license, BLS/CPR certification, and CT Radiologic License required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of nursing principles, regulations, standards, and patient education techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical skills, including proficiency with healthcare IT systems.
  • Ability to make clinical decisions, maintain confidentiality, delegate, and communicate effectively.

The Connecticut Children’s pediatric Urgent Care is located at 599 Farmington Ave, Farmington CT. Our team includes pediatric physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, radiology technologists, and MAs, working collaboratively to provide compassionate, family-friendly care. CT Children’s is Magnet recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
