Job summary

South Shore Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for our urgent care site in Pembroke. The role involves rooming patients, taking vital signs, phlebotomy as needed, vaccines, and assisting clinicians with procedures under supervision.

The position requires excellent patient communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage front-desk tasks, scheduling, and charting. BLS is required; CMA and additional BLS certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• CMA certificate preferred.
• BLS Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
• INSTRUCTOR- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and escorts them to exam rooms; supports efficient patient flow.
• Assists with varied procedures under supervision of MD/NP/PA; includes minor procedures and wound care.
• Takes vital signs and documents results; coordinates room rotations.
• Performs front desk duties: scheduling, orders, referrals, and communication with patients and referring offices.
