Job summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) works on the front line of clinical care in Pardee UNC Health Care's Urgent Care Brevard, interviewing patients, obtaining histories, and performing tests and specimen collection as directed by a provider.

This per diem role requires current CMA certification (CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, or ARMA) and BLS, with the ability to lift supplies and navigate the clinic. Onsite work with rotating shifts and 8-hour standard hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Medical Assistant certification from the listed credentials.
• BLS certification required.
• Ability to lift supplies and navigate a clinical area regularly.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to collect HPI, medications, and allergies.
• Performs vital signs and standard tests per clinic procedures.
• Coordinates follow-on procedures including onsite testing and specimen collection.
• Assists with provider-performed procedures such as sutures or splints.
• Communicates with patients regarding care and explains policies with cultural competency.
• Documents care in the EMR and ensures complete forms.
• Collects and prepares testing specimens for transport to the offsite lab.
• Maintains supplies and medications for ongoing operations.
• Promotes a safe, clean clinical environment and infection control.
