Job summary

URBN is seeking a Store Detective in New York to deter theft, maintain a safe store environment, and deliver high levels of customer service. The role involves implementing loss prevention procedures to protect company assets and minimize external theft across the store.

Responsibilities include completing daily LP checklists, apprehending shoplifters per guidelines, and coordinating with law enforcement as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid NYS security guard license.
• 1-2 years’ experience within a retail Loss Prevention.
• Outstanding time and attendance history is a critical requirement.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong business partnerships.
• Ability to deescalate customer escalations and protect store team members.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to make quick and decisive decisions in line with company policies.
• Proven track record of shoplifting apprehensions/recoveries.
• Must move with purpose and a strong sense of urgency.
• Maintain professional demeanor at all times.
• Ability to preserve confidential information.
• Store Detective must work ~35+ hours per week with flexible evenings/weekends/holidays.
• Ability to read/write concise reports; basic computer skills to type reports.
• Non-uniformed position; dress according to company dress code.
• Communicate with local and state law enforcement as needed for reporting/prosecution.
• Completion of internal Loss Prevention program upon hire.

Role Summary

The Store Detective's main objective is to deter theft by communicating suspicious activity, maintaining a safe working environment, and providing a high level of customer service. The Store Detective will implement loss prevention procedures to safeguard company assets, prevent and minimize external theft and promote a safe environment. The Store Detective will also perform other duties related to shrink mitigation.

Role Responsibilities

• Completion of daily LP checklist
• Recover/Apprehend shoplifters within company guidelines.
• Prosecute shoplifters following company guidelines in partnership with law enforcement agencies.
• Complete all necessary paper work (Supporting deposition, Lost and stolen property report, APPRISS case reporting.)
• Ensure the store teams are adhering to Loss Prevention policy and procedure
• Respond to all safety concerns and threats within assigned location

Role Qualifications

• Work approximately 35+ hours per week, flexible schedule required on evenings, weekends, and/or most holidays depending on business needs
• Ability to read/write concise reports in a timely manner. Store Detective must also know basic computer skills to type reports
• This is a non-uniformed position. The Store Detective will be required to dress in accordance to company dress code standards
• Communicate with local and state law enforcement agencies as necessary to report and/or prosecute cases of theft
• Successful completion of internal Loss Prevention program upon hire

Pay Range

USD $19.00 - USD $26.00 /Hr.
