Job summary

The City of Midland seeks a professional planner to contribute to planning and development programs for land use and city facilities.

You will prepare studies, review zone changes and subdivision plats, present findings to the Planning and Zoning Commission, and provide information to developers and the public using GIS and written reports.

A Bachelor's degree in planning or a related field and 1–3 years of experience are preferred; AICP certification or candidate status is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in architecture, planning, engineering, economics, or related field.
1–3 years of experience preferred.
AICP certification or candidate status preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare studies and reports related to code amendments and annexation studies.
Assist with comprehensive plan and studies and updates as necessary.
Prepare statistical reports such as annual population estimates.
Review requests and prepare written reports for zone changes and subdivision plats and related studies.
Present information and recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Review miscellaneous applications including temporary land uses and special events.
Respond to public inquiries concerning development.
Research, compile and analyze land use data.
Work with the public and developers to provide information.
Perform related duties as required.
