Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced urban designer to lead master plans, design guidelines, and feasibility studies in a multi-disciplinary setting.

The role requires deep knowledge of urban design standards, zoning controls, and sustainable site planning, with proven rendering and visualization skills to communicate complex concepts to clients and agencies.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning or a directly related field.
  • Requires ten (10) years of experience in architecture or urban design studio.
  • Six (6) years of experience with rendering and visualization tools, including Enscape, D5, and Lumion.
  • Working knowledge of zoning codes, land development regulations, and planning approval processes.
  • Experience evaluating land use proposals for regulatory compliance and development feasibility.
  • Ten (10) years of experience with graphic design skills, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Autodesk Forma, Adobe Creative Suite, LEED-ND principles, Transit Oriented Developments, Grayfields, Brownfields, waterfront development, New Urbanist communities, full project phases, urban design deliverables, professional-quality digital and graphic presentations, high-level urban design concepts, manual and digital sketching, 3D urban models and massing studies, sustainable design principles, green-building strategies, and environmentally responsible site planning

Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual urban framework plans, master plans, design guidelines, reports, and presentations

  • Conduct community outreach, design charrettes, stakeholder interviews, and information-gathering meetings
  • Apply sustainable site design and green-building principles
  • Advise planning officials on project feasibility, cost-effectiveness, regulatory conformance, and alternatives
