Job summary

The University of Maine is seeking applicants for the position of TRIO Program Counselor (50% Upward Bound “Classic” and 50% Upward Bound Math Science), a shared position with Upward Bound “Classic” and Upward Bound Math Science.

The Program Counselor works to collaboratively plan and implement the program and provide direct service in academic, career and college planning to help students progress toward college graduation.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in social work, education, counseling, or related field.
• At least 3 years direct service experience with high school or college-age youth.
• Experience managing a similar academic support services project (3+ years).
• Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Current CHRC endorsement through the Maine Department of Education (fingerprinting).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Upward Bound staff to plan and implement program goals.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to support student retention and success.
• Deliver academic, career and college planning services to students.
• Monitor student progress toward graduation.
