Job summary

Simpson University is seeking an Upward Bound Project Advisor to work with the director to recruit and mentor a cohort of 60 First-Generation and Low-Income high school students. You will deliver Upward Bound curriculum, coordinate workshops, and organize college campus trips and summer residential programs.

The role involves advising on admissions, financial aid, and career options, plus data management and field trip planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, liberal studies, psychology, or related field required.
• Master’s Degree and/or Teaching Credential preferred.
• Valid CA driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Develop an annual academic plan (IAP) for under-resourced First-Generation and/or Low-Income high school students.
• Assist with participant recruitment to maintain a full cohort of 60 students.
• Provide academic and career counseling, ensuring enrollment in appropriate coursework.
• Deliver information on college admissions, financial aid, and career options; advise individually.
• Monitor students’ progress and motivation for college admission.
• Document participant services and maintain records in the Upward Bound database.
