The U-Pick Tractor Driver is responsible for safely transporting guests on trailers during U-Pick operations at Huber’s Orchard & Winery. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, excellent focus, and awareness of guest behavior to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience. The Tractor Driver represents Huber’s commitment to guest satisfaction and safety while operating farm equipment in a public environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate tractors and attached trailers safely, following all company policies and applicable laws
  • Ensure guests are seated safely and remain seated during transport
  • Monitor guest behavior during the ride and enforce safety rules politely and professionally
  • Conduct pre-operation safety inspections of tractors and trailers
  • Report equipment issues or safety concerns immediately to management
  • Follow all traffic patterns, speed limits, and route procedures within the orchard and farm areas
  • Operate tractors with trailers in varying terrain, weather, and seasonal conditions
  • Perform basic daily maintenance checks (oil, tires, brakes, hitch connections)
  • Clean and prepare tractors and trailers before and after each shift
  • Communicate with supervisors about maintenance needs or hazards
  • Provide friendly and professional interactions with all guests
  • Answer guest questions about the U-Pick experience, farm operations, or produce
  • Support a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere while enforcing safety standards
  • Assist with loading and unloading guests safely at pick-up and drop-off points
  • Support other farm or market operations as directed during slower periods or off-peak times
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license; tractor or heavy equipment experience preferred
  • Proven ability to follow safety protocols and maintain focus in high-responsibility situations
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
  • Excellent guest service and communication skills
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work outdoors in variable conditions
  • Ability to lift 25–50 pounds occasionally and assist with light farm labor
  • Extended periods of sitting while operating tractors
