Job summary

Skyline Furniture is a family owned and operated wholesale furniture manufacturer located just outside of Chicago. We are seeking motivated individuals to learn the skilled trade of furniture upholstery with hands-on training from experienced craftsmen.

No upholstery experience is required; we provide training and opportunities for advancement, with competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance.

Qualifications

• No upholstery experience required; we will train the right candidate.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs, bend, twist, and stand for long periods; post-offer, pre-employment physical.
• Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn a skilled trade.
• Reliable, dependable, and able to work well in a team environment.
• Positive attitude and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Furniture manufacturing or upholstery experience is a plus but not required.
• English communication skills are helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Learn the upholstery process by working alongside upholsterers and Line Foremen.
• Assemble softwood furniture frames using precut wood components and pneumatic fastening tools.
• Inspect assembled wood frames and identify defects before production.
• Learn how to prepare wood frames using materials such as webbing, foam, and polyester fiber.
• Safely operate pneumatic staple guns and other upholstery tools.
• Learn how to upholster furniture by applying precut and sewn fabric to prepared frames.
• Inspect completed furniture to ensure it meets Skyline's quality standards.
• Continuously develop upholstery techniques to improve craftsmanship, quality, and efficiency.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Support Line Foremen and contribute to special projects and continuous process improvement initiatives.
