Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Greenville, TX is seeking an Unwind Operator to perform and document quality audits, verify job completion, and monitor carton quality on the production line. The role involves learning the Make-Ready process, maintaining materials, and completing reports while upholding housekeeping standards and following safety rules.

Candidates will undergo a drug screening after a conditional offer.

Responsibilities

• Rotates with the crew on the machine and assists in the Make Ready process on all sections of the machine.
• Proofreads job jacket for specific job information and collects customer job samples if required.
• Cuts wraps and dresses unprinted rolls with minimal waste and in a timely manner.
• Removes waste and trash from work stations and maintains cleanliness of the Press, Press Room, and ink room.
• Sets up proper delivery for every job and monitors the machine during splicing and operation.
• Follows the machine operator's instructions and learns the print process to support future operation.

Job description

The Opportunity:

The Unwind Operator performs and documents quality audits, verify job completion, understand job sheet. Check job specifications to carton, learn to Make-ready machine, monitor carton quality, maintain materials for production, complete necessary reports (forms), maintain housekeeping to standards set by management, complete line clearance and additional job duties as assigned by department manager.

Compliance with all workplace rules, policies and procedures, i.e. SQF, safety, etc.

Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, ear plugs, Appropriate Gloves, Safety Shoes, Hair and Beard net if applicable, Bump Caps if applicable and Level 7 Sleeves if Applicable

What You Need to Succeed:

Functions as part of the crew on the machine (rotating, breaks, etc.).

• Works in conjunction with the machine operator and / or Print specialist, Unwinder and Rewinder
• Assists in and learns Make Ready process on all sections of the machine
• Proofreads job jacket for specific job information
• Collects customer job samples (if required)
• Cuts wraps and dresses unprinted rolls with minimum waste and in a timely manner
• Removes waste and trash from the work stations
• Maintains the overall cleanliness of the Press, Press Room, and ink room
• Sets up proper delivery for every job
• Pays close attention to the machine during splicing and operation. Shuts down the machine during times of distress or failure.
• Follows , within reason, the instruction of the machine operator.
• Actively learn the print process in effort to run the machine in the future or the operators’ absence
