Responsibilities

  • Select products accurately and verify them correctly.
  • Inspect equipment and report deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Follow safety procedures at all times.
  • Receive load assignments from dock supervisor.
  • Adhere to all work instructions and procedures.
  • Unload from trailer and break down loads per PO specifications.
  • Break down loads efficiently with minimal errors and align loads by PO line.
  • Record losses, damages, shortages and overages.
  • Submit packaging slips and note shortages or overages.
  • Report equipment damages and pallet integrity issues.
  • Train new team members on unloading processes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working area.
  • Suggest improvements for more effective operations.

About the role

The Warehouse Unloader (AKA Lumper) is responsible for unloading merchandise in accordance with established safety, procedural and accuracy standards to meet the warehouse operation goals.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  1. 1. Select products accurately and properly verify
  2. 2. Perform required equipment inspection and report any deficiencies to supervisor
  3. 3. Must follow proper safety procedures
  4. 4. Receive load assignment from dock supervisor
  5. 5. Must follow all work instructions and procedures
  6. 6. Remove product from trailer and break down loads to customer specifications per purchase order
  7. 7. Must break down loads efficiently, accurately, in a timely manner, with little to no error on loads: loads must be wrapped and lined up by P.O. line number when required
  8. 8. Responsible for recording loss, damages, shortages and overages
  9. 9. Responsible for turning in all packaging slip, recording your name and number of shortages or overages, if any.
  10. 10. Reports any equipment damages and/or integrity of pallets
  11. 11. Will train new team members on unloading process
  12. 12. Must maintain a clean working area
  13. 13. Make recommendations for more effective operations.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. This position frequently requires to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit, climb and balance. Must be physically capable of constantly lifting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Education & Experience
  1. 1. High school diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience, preferred
  2. 2. Previous working experience as a warehouse worker, preferred
  3. 3. Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods or the ability to learn processes and procedures
  4. 4. Must maintain certification, if using powered industrial equipment
Work Environment

This position works in a warehouse setting with various temperatures. Warehouse temperatures vary from freezer, refrigerator, climate control to no climate control warehouses as well as some outdoor exposure. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, two-way forklift flow and loud noise.
