Job summary

Methuen Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a student intern to work onsite at a New England infrastructure project.

You will join project management, field engineering, and supervision teams to assist with day-to-day construction operations and gain hands-on site experience on a large-scale jobsite. This internship is ideal for safety-minded, detail-oriented students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related engineering field, with exposure to layout, QC, material

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field.
• Interest in a career in heavy construction.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; strong writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a diverse team with staff, clients and stakeholders.
• Experience or aptitude for construction and/or mechanical processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project controls, change orders, RFIs and other construction administration duties.
• Prepare look ahead schedules with information from subcontractors.
• Assist in generation of reports such as submittal and RFI logs and with document control.
• Process Submittals and RFIs and update working drawings with RFIs and changes.

The Intern will work onsite at one of our infrastructure projects based in New England In this role youll work directly in the field alongside project management field engineering and supervision teams assisting with day to day construction operations and gaining hands on experience on an active large scale jobsite This opportunity is well suited for students who are safety minded detail oriented and eager to learn through real world field experience

The Intern role offers exposure to construction layout quality control material coordination and field documentation providing a strong foundation for a long term career in construction or engineering while developing a practical understanding of how major infrastructure projects are built

Essential Functions

• Assist with project controls change orders RFIs and other construction administration duties
• Prepare look ahead schedules with information from subcontractors
• Assist in generation of various reports such as submittal and RFI logs and with document control
• Process Submittals and RFIs
• Update working drawings with RFIs and changes
• Keep this set up to date to ensure the team is working with the most current information
• Preform simple calculations
• Provide technical support for construction efforts
• Contact vendors for information
• Comply with company policies and procedures
• Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies

Basic Qualifications

• In progress toward earning a Bachelors degree in Construction Management Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Chemical Engineering Civil Engineering or a related degree
• Interest in a career in heavy construction
• Experienced with complete Microsoft Office Suite excellent writing and communication skills
• Strong interpersonal abilities for working in diverse team environments with staff clients and stakeholders
• Experience with aptitude for construction andor mechanical processes

• Prepared to regularly encounter moving mechanical parts high precarious places fumes or airborne particles and a variety of outside weather conditions
• Able to climb temporary or permanent stairs and ladders
• Able to bend squat kneel crawl crouch balance and stoop reach on a regular basis
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Travel is throughout all of New England depending upon job locations

Pay range 20 25hr
