Job description
University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Statistics

Jul 31, 2023

The Department of Data Sciences and Operations within the USC Marshall School of Business invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track position in Statistics starting in Fall 2024. Successful applicants will join a vibrant statistics group currently comprising 12 tenure-track faculty members.

Applicants must display strong research potential and excellent teaching skills. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in statistics or a closely related field or be assured of completion of such by Fall 2024. We encourage applicants from all areas of statistics to apply, including those with interdisciplinary research interests in statistics and machine learning.

Remuneration is competitive, and teaching loads are relatively low: faculty typically fulfill their teaching assignment in one semester per year. In addition, the department provides all faculty with generous research and travel support.

Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, up to three representative manuscripts/publications (in ranked order), a research statement, three references, and any teaching evaluations. Within these materials, please share how you would contribute to Marshall’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our search will continue until the position is filled. Applications will be reviewed starting from Nov 1, 2023. Information about the Data Sciences and Operations department, its faculty, and the Marshall School can be obtained at: http://www.marshall.usc.edu/dso .

Salary is dependent on qualifications, and employee benefits for full-time faculty are excellent. The annual base salary range for this position is $144,878 – $308,231. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
