Job summary

Rider University invites applications for University Investigators. The Investigators will join a team that handles harassment and discrimination complaints under Rider's policies, supporting a workplace and educational environment free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

This hybrid role is largely remote with some in-person responsibilities and is paid per diem. For Investigators, pay is $50 per hour; pay for other duties is $30 per hour.

Qualifications

• At least two years of professional experience conducting formal complaint investigations.
• Formal training related to Title IX, Title VI, student/employee conduct or HR investigations.
• Ability to analyze and apply legal and internal policy standards to specific situations.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with diplomacy, impartiality, and good judgment.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, interviewing, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to convey relevant information in detailed reports.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Google apps, and student conduct databases.
• Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough, reliable, and impartial investigations of harassment and discrimination complaints, including sexual harassment and assault, under Rider policies.
• Provide timely resolution of formal complaints and assist with other assignments as required.

Job description

Rider University invites applications for University Investigators. The University Investigators serve as part of a team that investigates complaints of harassment and discrimination, including sexual harassment and assault, pursuant to Rider's Anti-Harassment and Non-Discrimination Policy, as well as complaints involving the Student Code of Social Conduct and employee policies. The position supports the University in providing a workplace and educational environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation by conducting thorough, reliable, and impartial investigations and timely resolution of formal complaints. Other assignments as required.
This position is a hybrid position (largely remote with some in-person responsibilities) and is paid per diem. Pay rate as an Investigator will be $50 an hour. Pay rate for other responsibilities/assignments/training will be $30 an hour.

• At least two years of professional experience conducting formal complaint investigations, preferably involving issues of alleged sexual conduct, student code of conduct, and employee conduct matters.
• Formal training directly related to Title IX, Title VI, student / employee conduct or human resources investigations.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze and apply legal and internal policy standards to specific situations.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with diplomacy, impartiality, and excellent judgment.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal, organizational, interviewing, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated strong ability to communicate orally and in written communications, including the ability to convey relevant information in clearly written, detailed reports.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive and/or stressful situations in a professional, confidential, and trauma-informed manner.
• Computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office, Google applications and student conduct databases is essential.
• Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.

• Undergraduate degree strongly preferred.
• Experience working in higher education is preferred.
