Job summary

St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas is seeking a Campus Security Officer to provide a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors on the main campus.

The role involves patrolling facilities, monitoring activity, securing doors, and enforcing university policies while educating the campus community about safety. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, be 21 or older, hold a valid Texas driver’s license, and possess at least two years in safety or security.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 21+ at time of employment and U.S. citizen with Texas driver's license.
• Current licensed security officer in good standing.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in safety or security.
• Experience in college/university setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Campus Security Officer performs vehicle and foot patrols of the campus, parking lots, garage and buildings to monitor behavior, secure buildings and property, maintain order and ensure rule compliance, and enforce regulations.
• The officer monitors the physical safety of all buildings by locking and unlocking doors, patrolling or monitoring, and reporting suspicious behavior. The officer may also enforce traffic and parking regulations. The position involves interaction with the general public, greeting and directing students, faculty, staff and visitors, and answering questions.
