Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Campus Shuttle Operator to safely transport employees, students, and patients around the Medical District. You will monitor vehicle performance, maintain logs, and communicate schedules clearly to passengers.

Responsibilities include vehicle fueling and cleaning, inspections, and assisting with occasional local day trips. A valid driver’s license and ability to work in all weather conditions are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year experience in operation or maintenance of heavy equipment, motorized vehicles or machinery related to the area of employment.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and/or commercial driver's license may be required.
  • Physical requirements include continuous standing, climbing stairs, lifting up to 15 lbs., and working in all weather conditions.

  • Transports employees, students, and visitors to MUSC and areas within the assigned operation zone.
  • Maintains transport logs, mileage, passenger counts, and training records.
  • Communicates schedules and transportation services to passengers in a respectful manner.
  • Performs fueling and cleaning of the vehicle and conducts pre/post-vehicle inspections.
  • Performs other duties including substituting for other drivers and local day trips.

Job Description
  • 25% - Transports employees, students, and visitors to MUSC and areas within the assigned area of operations. Boards and discharges passengers with concern and consideration safely and efficiently. Monitor vehicle performance on the road and immediately isolate and remedy issues that are within the normal scope of a vehicle operator's responsibility. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Maintains administrative and operational logs including, but not limited to, inspection forms, mileage logs, passenger counts, accident/incident reports, and regular updates on mandatory training requirements. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Communicates effectively with passengers and customers in a respectful way regarding transportation schedules and services. Maintains thorough work records while making timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Responsible for fueling and cleaning of the vehicle; mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and washing. Performs operator's pre/post vehicle inspections and adds fluids as needed. Performed in all weather conditions consistent with safety. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to substituting for other drivers, quick rides, of town travels (day trips). - (Essential)
