Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Landscaper Team Leader to oversee landscape maintenance on campus. Lead a small team and coordinate daily tasks across MUSC properties to keep grounds well-kept and safe.

The role requires supervision of 1–3 staff, performing pruning, mowing, mulching, and other routine landscape duties while ensuring efficient scheduling and adherence to priorities.

Job Responsibilities

• Job Responsibility: [ x ] Essential [ ] Marginal 25% Duty: Lead a Landscaping Team staff of 1-3 individuals to landscape and hardscape grounds based upon season and priority.
• Job Responsibility: [ x ] Essential [ ] Marginal 25% Duty: Follow a daily schedule of MUSC properties to landscape. This includes: pruning using power sheers and manual hedgers, weed eating, mowing, edging, laying pine straw, mulching, pick up leaves and debris and other general landscape maintenance duties.
• Job Responsibility: [ x ] Essential [ ] Marginal 20% Duty: Assist other team members by performing tree maintenance, chemical applications, annual plantings, landscape plantings, and other tasks as needed.
• Job Responsibility: [ ] Essential [ x ] Marginal 15% Duty: Monitor all trees, shrubs and turf for disease and insect damage; Properly identify harmful insects and disease and determine when and how to provide control of landscape insects and disease utilizing a combination of biological, cultural, physical/mechanical and chemical management tools.
• Job Responsibility: [ x ] Essential [ ] Marginal 10% Duty: Perform other grounds maintenance tasks as needed to include picking up litter, pressure washing sidewalks, etc.
• Job Responsibility: [ x ] Essential [ ] Marginal 5% Duty: Provide Mandatory Hazardous Weather preparedness and support during critical times. Schedule and lead the landscaping team to ensure that the grounds and areas of the facility are prepared for hazardous weather. Ensure that plants, grasses and shrubs are protected and that safety precautions are taken.

Additional New Requirements: Some positions require ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license. Some positions require successful completion of DHEC certification as a commercial pesticide applicator.
