Job summary

The United States Army Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion is seeking a Unit Supply Specialist responsible for maintenance and supervision of all Army supplies and equipment. The ideal candidate will receive, inspect, document, and manage various armaments and other materials.

This position requires enlisting in the U.S. Army and completing the ASVAB assessment. It also offers extensive skills training in stock management and facilities operation. Various military benefits including health care and education assistance are included.

Overview

Unit supply specialist is primarily responsible for supervising or performing tasks involving the general upkeep and maintenance of all Army supplies and equipment.

Job Duties
  • Receive, inspect, inventory, load/unload, store, issue and deliver supplies and equipment
  • Maintain automated supply system for accounting of organizational and installation supplies and equipment
  • Issue and receive small arms. Secure and control weapons and ammunition in security areas
  • Schedule and perform preventive and organizational maintenance on weapons
  • Operate unit level computers
Requirements
  • Permanent Resident or US Citizen.
  • Enlistment in U.S. Army.
  • Must first take the ASVAB, a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you.
Training

Job training for a unit supply specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and eight weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instructions. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field, including practice in handling and storing stock.

Compensation

Total compensation includes housing, medical, food, special pay, and vacation time.

Soldiers in this position receive additional compensation for Housing/Lodging Costs for themselves and immediate family members in addition to their salary. This entitlement is referred to as basic Allowance for Housing.
