Job summary

Salinas Valley Health invites an experienced nurse leader to oversee the Outpatient Infusion department. You will guide staff, ensure safe admissions, discharges, and transfers, and promote a positive, compliant work environment focused on excellent patient care.

The role requires a BSN (MSN preferred) and at least two years of acute care experience. Strong collaboration with physicians and a commitment to patient experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or in progress with commitment to obtain within four years from hire or transfer date.
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Two years of effective clinical experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Knowledge of CQI and PDSA to improve unit work.

Department:

Outpatient Infusion


Primary Duties:


  • Provides leadership and direction to the staff in assigned clinical area(s).

  • Facilitates Patient Flow initiatives to ensure processes leading to Admissions, Discharges and Transfers are managed efficiently and safely.

  • Maintains the standard for appropriate professional behavior and provides and promotes a positive working environment for clinical staff to promote strong employee morale, motivation and productivity.

  • Incorporates operational information, systems and procedures to promote the highest possible standard of patient care and customer service utilizing available resources.

  • Maintains and reviews all aspects of corporate compliance as it relates to the assigned clinical area(s).

  • Assist in maintaining a high level of satisfaction for patient, family and/or visitor experiences. Including appropriate notification to Administrative Supervisors and/or Director/Clinical manager.

  • Develops a strong, collaborative relationship with clinical staff, physicians, peers, and other key individuals across the Hospital, and fosters a multi-disciplinary teamwork approach to decision-making and problem resolution.

  • Facilitates processes and strategies outlined by the Patient Experience Team to enhance the patients perception of care to promote healing.

  • Models good leadership from the top: exemplify behavior that reflects the patient experience vision and values: kind, compassionate, caring, empathic, respectful, informative, efficient and professional.

  • Responsible for performance management of staff, including coaching and progressive discipline.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:


  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or in progress with commitment to obtain within four (4) years from hire or transfer date. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

  • Licensure: Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association required. Maintains department required licenses/certifications. * See unit specific grid for additional department requirements.

  • Certifications: Maintains a minimum of one ANCC Magnet Recognition Program-eligible certification. Effective 1/1/2026, incumbent has one year to obtain certification. New hire/transfers have one (1) year from date of hire or transfer to obtain certification.

  • Experience/Knowledge: Minimum of two years of effective clinical experience in an acute care hospital. Substantial knowledge of: Current nursing principles, theories and practices. Laws, regulations and hospital guidelines pertaining to professional nursing care of patients. Principles of CQI and ability to apply these principles including PDSA to improve unit work. Ability to promote effective collaboration and teamwork among individuals of multiple disciplines and across organizational boundaries.

  • Specific Duties: Serves as a resource and role model to staff regarding current nursing theory and trends.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Communicate effectively both orally and in writing to diverse groups and individuals; Work effectively with administration, employees and medical staff; Identify and analyze complex departmental (and patient care) issues; Make independent decisions and provide counsel and advice to Administration, Director, employees and medical staff; Exercise good judgment and tact in providing leadership, guidance and assistance.


Pay Range:

The hourly rate for this position is $79.87 - $99.84. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
