Job summary

Cooper Norcross Health is seeking a Unit Secretary for the PACU to support patient recovery operations. The role entails managing records, coordinating intra- and inter-department communications, and ensuring smooth workflow in a busy post-anesthesia area.

Located in Camden, NJ, the position requires clerical skills, familiarity with medical office processes, and availability for weekend/holiday rotation. The unit operates 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital unit secretary, medical office assistant or medical records experience preferred.
• Clerical, communication and customer service experience a plus.
• Computer literate, comfortable with Microsoft Office software.

Overview

ThePost Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)is where patients come to recovery from a surgical procedure. PACU is located on the third floor of the Pavilion and Kelemen building. There isalso an area on Pavilion 2. Patients here can often be sent home following theprocedure or are admitted to the hospital. This is based upon the procedure performed and the necessary recovery needed. If admitted the patient is transferred to the appropriate floor for continued recovery and discharge. The PACU sees infants to geriatrics. Here the patients are closely monitor while they are waking up from the anesthesia they received during the procedure. Depending on the procedure and the orders received from the physicians the patient will be discharged home or admitted to the hospital.

Experience Required

• Previous hospital unit secretary, medical office assistant or medical records experience preferred.
• Additional unit-specific qualification may be required.
• Clerical, communication and customer service experience a plus.
• Computer literate, comfortable with Microsoft Office software.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Unit Secretary certification is desirable.

License/Certification Requirements

• Weekend, holiday rotation required
