Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit, delivering vital clerical tasks and serving as a friendly resource for patients, families, staff and visitors. Join a team recognized for caring, diversity and employee growth across nationwide locations.

You will maintain medical records, transcribe orders, coordinate unit operations, schedule tests and transportation, and act as a liaison to help deliver safe, high-quality patient care in a community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year of inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program, familiarity with medical terminology, and experience in reading and transcribing medical orders are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.
• Accurately transcribe medical orders and distribute to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize the delivery of safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries, directing them to the appropriate person for resolution.
