Job summary

Encompass Health Corporation is seeking a Unit Secretary to support a nursing unit, ensuring seamless patient care with clerical precision. You will maintain medical records, transcribe orders, and assist patients, families, and staff at the nursing station.

The role contributes to safe, high-quality care in a community-focused hospital setting. The ideal candidate has inpatient unit secretary experience, CPR certification preferred, and may be enrolled in a healthcare program with familiarity

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year of inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program (such as nursing), familiarity with medical terminology, and experience in reading and transcribing medical orders are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.
• Accurately/efficiently transcribe medical orders and distribute to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize the delivery of safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries, directing them to the appropriate person for resolution.
