Job summary

Day Kimball Health in Putnam, CT is seeking a Unit Receptionist/Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department on a per diem basis across all shifts. The UR/PCT provides front desk patient management, clerical support, and basic patient care under the nurse's direction.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, vitals, and transport; accurate documentation; maintaining communication within the care team; and contributing to a culture of teamwork and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA certification or EMT-B or equivalent within 3 months of hire required/verified.
• Current AHA CPR certification within 3 months of hire required.
• Current NVCIT certification or within 3 months of hire required.
• Must work a minimum of 32 hours.
• Experience in clerical or receptionist position preferred.
• Previous experience in an acute care environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform front desk patient management and clerical duties.
• Assist with patient activities under nurse supervision (ADL, vitals).
• Aid in restraining/removal of restraints as directed.
• Complete forms and communicate orders; transcribe physician orders when applicable.
• Support patient care plans and transport patients as needed.

UR/PCT Job Summary

Responsible for performing the clerical duties of the unit and facilitates clear communication to support the smooth functioning of the unit. A UR/PCT will be under the direction of the nurse to assist with specific patient activities including performing front desk patient management, administrative support, basic patient care needs such as bathing, feeding, vitals, activities of daily living, and transportation of patients. You will also discover a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and mutual respect, and—most importantly—a fulfilling career.

UR/PCT Key Responsibilities

• Meets the physical demands of the position.
• Demonstrates ability to cope with and function under stress.
• Meets skill certification requirements for designated units.
• Remain alert and in visual contact with the patient at all times.
• Assist the patient in daily activities as directed by the nurse.
• Assist the nurse in restraining and removing restraints.
• Completes all necessary forms, requisitions, communications and special projects as assigned. Accurately transcribes physician’s orders (when applicable).
• Assists patients and nurses as necessary with ADL, Vital Signs, and patient Plan of Care.

UR/PCT Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education:
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical terminology/keyboarding skills preferred.
• Upon hire, a current CNA certification, or completion of one year of clinical experience in an accredited RN nursing program, or EMT-B, or equivalent (i.e., documented/verified years of acute care hospital experience as a CNA) required.
• Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
• Current NVCIT (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training) certification or within 3 months of hire required.
• Must work a minimum of 32 hours.
