Job summary

PACCAR Engine Company in Columbus, MS is seeking a Unit Manager - Quality to lead quality assurance activities for the engine production line. You will direct a quality team, drive audits, process improvements, and training to ensure top quality standards are met.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive experience with PQI and corrective actions, and a track record in lean and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience with PQI and related corrective action required.
• At least 5 years’ professional/work related experience with PACCAR diesel engines preferred.
• Six Sigma belt training preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; SAP and QDA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Distributes work assignments/priorities to team representatives in accordance with team objectives.
• Coaches team on quality processes, procedures, and documentation.
• Leads team in daily quality audits, repair activities, and teardown/recovery processes.
• Instructs, assists, and coaches team members on interpretation of prints, procedures, specifications, attendance, workmanship, safety, housekeeping, and 5S requirements.
• Assists with developing and conducting quality training programs.
• Completes and analyzes data; identifies trends and plant improvement actions; implements solutions.
• Creates and maintains quality metrics and handles quality reporting.
• Encourages associates to pursue new and innovative ways to improve quality and productivity.
• Provides engine training, support, and leadership for direct team, the plant, and external customer.
• Establishes and maintains a safe and efficient workplace.
• Leads continuous improvement activities and supports lean environment and scrap reduction.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Lead continuous improvement activities and support lean environment and re-work/scrap reduction.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Experience with PQI and related corrective action is required
• At least 5 years’ professional/work related experience with PACCAR diesel engines preferred.
• Excellent technical, verbal, and written skills
• Ability to coach and train associates at all levels of the organization.
• Proven ability to work in a self-directed environment.
• Six Sigma belt training is preferred.
• Demonstrated motivational and team building skills and ability to influence team members in a positive manner.
