Job summary

Majestic Care of Lakin is seeking a Unit Manager to direct the operation of a nursing unit in a long-term care community. You will lead the care team, recruit and develop staff, and coordinate with physicians to ensure timely interventions and high-quality resident care.

Qualifications include an accredited nursing degree, active LPN/RN licensure, CPR certification, and at least three years of nursing experience (one year in long-term care).

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Active LPN/RN license in the state employed; license must be current.
• CPR license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Direct the operation of a nursing unit in a long-term care setting.
• Hire, discipline, and evaluate care team members.
• Plan and facilitate meetings to address resident care issues.
• Manage staffing to meet resident needs and budgetary controls.
• Oversee programs for recruitment, retention, and continuing education.
• Coordinate with physicians for timely interventions.
• Review census and reassign personnel as needed.
• Monitor clinical operations and ensure quality care.
• Obtain medications, supplies, and records as required.
• Orient new personnel and supervise care team performance.

Position Overview:

The Unit Manager is responsible for directing the entire operation of a nursing unit in a long-term community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general management functions such as hiring, disciplining, and evaluating care team members.

• Plan and facilitate meetings and committees to address resident care issues/concerns for the unit.

• Manage area of responsibility with the goal of achieving and maintaining the highest quality of care possible.

• Participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that promote the recruitment, retention, development, and continuing education of nursing staff members.

• Contact physicians as needed/necessary and ensure physician interventions are timely and appropriate.

• Review staffing patterns and census of nursing units and reassign personnel when necessary to ensure staffing meets resident needs and budgetary controls.

• Monitor the clinical operations of the unit and resident’s conditions and ensure that appropriate and quality care is administered.

• Obtain medications, supplies and medical records needed to provide safe, efficient, and therapeutic are to residents on a continuing basis.

• Assist in the orientation of new personnel, monitoring their skills and guides and observe care team members that may need assistance with procedures.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.

• Licensed LPN/RN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing.

• Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred, but not required.

• Must hold an active CPR license or the ability to obtain within the first 30-days of employment. CPR license must be kept active and current throughout employment.

• Three years of nursing experience, of which one year in a long-term care environment.
