Job summary

Bayer in Boone, Iowa seeks a Unit Leader to plan, direct and coordinate all plant manufacturing activities, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and compliant production. You’ll lead autonomous squads, drive continuous improvement, and manage resources to deliver high-quality products.

Responsibilities include staffing, training, P&L oversight, and collaboration with engineering and technology teams. Domestic relocation assistance may be available; strong leadership and a background in manufacturing

Qualifications

• BS in agriculture, an engineering discipline, Supply Chain Management, or a similar field with a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience, or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 8 years of applicable experience
• Basic user knowledge of standard computer programs (Internet, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, tablets/smart devices)
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving record guidelines
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical
• Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons or when business needs require it
• Willingness and ability to work multiple shifts (days or nights)

Responsibilities

• Foster collaboration in a flat network of autonomous entrepreneurial squads and support their focus on mission to deliver beneficial outcomes for team members, customers, and stakeholders
• Guide Unit and squad development to deliver the best product and customer experience and run daily production activities
• Drive innovation by encouraging teams to generate and rapidly implement ideas, promoting onePSS and external collaboration
• Escalation point for prioritization, problem solving, continuous improvement and conflict resolution
• Optimize squad performance and development using DSO principles
• Collaborate to secure resources for Unit success while ensuring compliance
• Facilitate a shared vision, remove obstacles, connect parts of the system, and foster inclusion
• Monitor site P&L and support financial balance with objectives
