Job Summary

The Unit Director supports the overall delivery of facilities services for SSC at Arizona State University within a specific zone, helping ensure a safe, reliable, and high-quality campus environment. Partnering closely with the Operations Manager, this role provides day-to-day operational leadership, supports frontline and management teams, and helps drive consistent execution of service standards across assigned areas.

• Support daily facilities operations, ensuring consistent execution of service standards, work procedures, safety requirements, and client expectations.
• Partner with the Operations Manager and site leadership to coordinate staffing, workflows, priorities, and operational resources.
• Lead and support supervisors and frontline teams through regular communication, coaching, training, and performance feedback.
• Build strong relationships with university stakeholders and respond proactively to service needs, concerns, and operational priorities.
• Monitor operational performance, identify service gaps, and implement solutions that improve quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Support safety, sanitation, quality assurance, and preventive maintenance programs in accordance with SSC, university, and regulatory standards.
• Assist with labor management, purchasing, supply controls, and other operational activities to support financial and productivity goals.
• Conduct facility inspections and operational reviews to ensure readiness, quality, and compliance with established standards.
• Collaborate with internal departments and campus partners to support projects, events, and evolving operational needs.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and special projects as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience considered.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in facilities operations, custodial/environmental services, campus services, hospitality, or a related service environment.
• Prior experience supervising or supporting frontline teams and operational leaders.
• Higher education, large campus, institutional, or similarly complex facilities experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and client relationship skills with the ability to communicate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple operational priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to coach teams, reinforce standards, and drive accountability and service excellence.
• Working knowledge of safety, quality assurance, staffing, and operational performance practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with work order, CMMS, or facilities management systems preferred.
