This position is responsible for the efficient operation of the health care unit through consistent organizational and communication skills. The Unit Assistant assists RN’s, LPN’s, PCT’s, and physicians in the patient care process, monitors heart rhythms of patients on telemetry, interprets dysrhythmias, and promptly notifies nursing staff. Record keeping and posting of rhythm strips may also be required.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior training in EKG rhythm strip interpretation preferred. Completion of an EKG rhythm education course required. One year of clerical experience preferred. Previous hospital experience preferred.

Position requires sitting 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Frequent reaching, use of hands, and repetitive action. Occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Environment protected from weather conditions but not temperature changes with minimal noise levels. Significant computer work requiring manual dexterity with a keyboard. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease, hazardous chemicals, and radiation.
