Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals is hiring a Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair a variety of equipment, including aerial work platforms, pumps and HVAC systems. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of diesel/heavy equipment experience and may bring trade-school training. Tools are often provided by the employee, with opportunities for training and growth within the company.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or equivalent training desired.
• 5+ years of mechanic experience with similar diesel/heavy equipment or specialty lines strongly preferred.
• May need to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade; own tools preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of hydraulic systems & troubleshooting skills; electrical systems & troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime.
• Run advanced diagnostics and perform complex repairs on a variety of equipment.
• Work with a diverse fleet including aerial work platforms, generators, and pumps.
• Maintain safety and quality standards on the job site.

Sunbelt Rentals--the fastest growing rental business in North America--is seeking a Mechanic. This mechanic/technician role performs preventive maintenance, perform advanced diagnostics, and make complex repairs on equipment in the safest, most effective way possible to avoid downtime. Our fleet varies by location but primarily include Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools and equipment. Our specialty lines locations may have a fleet of large-scale power-generators, pumps, HVAC systems and oil/gas related equipment.

Education or Experience

• High school diploma or GED required, some trade school or equivalent training desired
• 5 +years of mechanic experience with similar diesel equipment and/or heavy equipment or specialty lines equipment (large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC or Oil & Gas equipment) strongly preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• May need to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade.
• Advanced knowledge of hydraulic systems & troubleshooting skills
• Advanced knowledge of electrical systems & troubleshooting skills
• Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors when required by the job.

Compensation

The hourly wage depends on the agreed rate under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement for this location.
