Job summary

ABM is seeking a Union Maintenance Assistant to support the Engineering and Maintenance Department with routine building maintenance, preventive maintenance, and general facility support.

The role involves assisting senior engineers and maintenance staff to maintain building systems, equipment, and common areas while ensuring safe, clean, and efficient facility operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn within a union environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Vocational or technical training in building maintenance, construction, mechanical systems, or related field preferred.
• Entry-level candidates with mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine maintenance and repair activities throughout the facility.
• Perform building inspections and report deficiencies to supervisors.
• Complete assigned preventive maintenance work orders.
• Assist with minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, air filters, and other building components.
• Support painting, patching, and general facility upkeep projects.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of mechanical rooms, maintenance shops, and work areas.
• Transport tools, equipment, and materials throughout the property.
• Assist with room setups, furniture moves, and special events.
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Support snow removal, grounds maintenance, and exterior building upkeep when required.
