Job summary

CBRE DIRECTLINE, a CBRE Data Center Solutions business, seeks a Lead Cable Technician to oversee installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cabling in data center environments. You will mentor a crew of technicians and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure safety, schedule adherence, and quality.

You will read blueprints, implement field terminations, and uphold best practices while driving operational excellence in mission-critical environments.

POSITION: Cable Technician – Lead Technician

About the Role:

As a Lead CableTechnician, you will oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshootingof network cabling infrastructure within data center environments. In thisrole, you will guide and support a team of technicians, ensuring projects arecompleted safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You willcollaborate with stakeholders, interpret technical documentation, and maintaincompliance with industry best practices. This position is ideal for individualswith strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passionfor mentoring others while driving operational excellence.

What You Will Do

• Installation/decommissioningof network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.
• Deliversustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement.
• Providestructured feedback on project progress to Stakeholders.
• Exhibitquality workmanship on all work and maintain Data Center cleanliness.
• Followall production, safety and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.
• Collaboratewith various Stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
• Readingand comprehending blueprints and building documentation/redline work.
• Broadunderstanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies.

What You Will Need

• Knowledgeand use of basic telecom hand tools.
• Mustbe capable of leading a crew of 1-5 technicians.
• Mustunderstand customer service, perform job walks and communicate with customerfor job requirements.
• Acceptresponsibility of outcome of work performed by him/her and/or by employee thatdirectly report to him/her.
• Clearunderstanding of job safety requirements.
• Beable to read and understand job floor plan.
• Shouldbe familiar on wiring schemes and wiring testing.
• Shouldbe able to pull all types of low voltage cables.
• Shouldunderstand and be capable in performing field terminations and labeling.
• Capableof maintaining orderly paperwork, capable of running midsize to large projectsand service jobs.
• Possessskill to layout MDF and IDF closets, be able to dress all types of cable andperform all types of terminations and should include basic understanding offiber equipment, all types of cable and fiber terminations.
• Basicunderstanding of both copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.
• Capableof working in Data Centers.
• Shallbe able to work on analog, DSL, and be able to extend T1 lines.
• Beable to patch network equipment.
• Reportsto Operations Manager and take daily directions from Technician, Technician II,Lead Technicians, Senior Technicians and Advance Senior Technicians.
• Trackand submit timesheets for crew reporting
• Performjob walks

• Copper/Fiber(term, test, splice, troubleshoot)
