Job summary

Savage III, Inc. in the Los Angeles area seeks security professionals to enforce railroad safety policies, deter theft, and protect intermodal facilities across Southern California.

Responsibilities include inspecting containers, reporting discrepancies, and escorting inbound trains to ensure safety. Candidates should have military or high-end security experience, and possess BSIS Guard Card plus related certifications; bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• Military or high-end security/military or law enforcement experience preferred.
• BSIS Guard Card and related firearms/training certifications preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to enforce policy and mitigate risk in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

• Enforce railroad safety policies and procedures.
• Assist railroad personnel in case of problems or incidents.
• Deter and detect burglaries of loaded containers and inspect seals.
• Inspect inbound/outbound containers and trailers for discrepancies.
• Notify railroad Police when a seal is missing or a security issue occurs.
• Escort and inspect inbound trains to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Patrol perimeter fences and monitor access points.
• Deter theft and protect company and employee property.
• Adhere to VIP protocol and maintain confidentiality.
• Prepare clear, accurate security reports and documentation.

Job Summary

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Enforce railroad Safety Policies.
• Assist railroad in case of a problem.
• Deter and detect burglaries of loaded containers.
• Inspect containers and trailers for any seal exceptions or other discrepancies.
• In case any loaded container or a trailer found without a seal, Security will notify railroad Police.
• Inspect Inbound and Outbound container trains for missing seals, open container/trailer doors and trespassers.
• Stop and identify all non-employees and all private vehicles driving on the Intermodal Ramp and right of way.
• Deter theft of the company and employee's property.
• Inspect High Value Shipments.
• Patrol perimeter fences to detect damage and inspect all gates to make sure that they are locked.
• Escort and inspect all inbound trains upon arrival to prevent vehicle accidents and injuries to employees and others.
• Conduct foot patrol of designated lots as directed.
• Request emergency personnel for high-risk situations.

Qualifications

• Military experience preferred
• Extensive experience in high end security and military or law enforcement.
• Valid and current

  • 40-hr Security Guard Training
  • Power to Arrest and Terrorism Training
  • Exposed Weapons Permit (if applicable)
  • CPR/First Responder training/ certs (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent English verbal, comprehension, and written skills – Bilingual is a plus.
• Access to reliable transportation with the ability to arrive to work on time.
• Ability to arrive groomed, clean, dressed and pressed in accordance with uniform standards.
• Basic computer knowledge – i.e.: typing reports, operating basic gate functionality, Word.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%* of the time
• Regularly required to drive,stand, walk, talk, hear, and see (using near vision, far vision, and peripheral vision) to identify and address potential threats or safety concerns
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit while remaining alert to surroundings
• Frequently required to use hands or reach with hands and arms at, above, or below shoulder level for various reasons, including detainment
• May occasionally require lifting, pushing, pulling up to 25 pounds
• Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions including severe conditions as seasons dictate
