Job description

Cybersecurity / Unified Security Platform (USP) Architect – OT Focus

Dallas, TX - Hybrid Schedule: 1-2 days onsite per week

Salary Range - $175,000 -$200,000/year

Industry - Large Oil & Gas Company

Full-Time role with immediate benefits

About the Role

We are seeking a senior Cybersecurity Architect to serve as the technical owner and chief designer for a Unified Security Platform (USP) focused on Operational Technology (OT) environments, while also providing architecture leadership across a broader portfolio of security, cloud, and digital initiatives.

This role goes beyond a single platform. The Architect will define target-state architecture, govern design decisions, lead IT/OT integration, and support multiple concurrent programs — including Microsoft Purview, Copilot, AI initiatives, and other enterprise security efforts. The ideal candidate combines deep technical architecture expertise with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and scale standards across sites and business units.

Why This Role

This is a high-impact architecture leadership position. You will own the technical vision for a foundational OT security platform, shape standards that scale across the enterprise, and influence decisions across a broader portfolio of security, cloud, and AI initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Define and govern the target-state OT security architecture, including standards, reference patterns, guardrails, and design principles for the Unified Security Platform across pilot and future deployment sites.

Lead IT/OT integration and data flow architecture — designing secure OT-to-cloud connectivity, data ingestion, application access patterns, and network segmentation while maintaining operational continuity and safety.

Own architecture decision governance: evaluate technical tradeoffs, document decisions, and provide recommendations on security, availability, scalability, and supportability for both pilot and enterprise phases.

Drive resiliency and operational readiness, ensuring designs support high availability, disaster recovery, site isolation, and continued OT operations during cloud or network disruptions.

Assess application modernization and onboarding readiness, including authentication requirements, cloud readiness, vendor constraints, licensing impacts, and operational dependencies.

Provide technical leadership, design reviews, mentoring, and work prioritization for architecture and engineering resources supporting the USP and related programs.

Collaborate with Identity & Access Management, networking, infrastructure, operations, engineering, and business stakeholders to align on technical direction and risk decisions.

Support broader security and digital initiatives (including Microsoft Purview, Copilot, and AI-related efforts) as part of a multi-project architecture portfolio.

Required Qualifications

Proven experience designing and delivering a unified security platform or equivalent large-scale OT security architecture.

Strong expertise in network architecture and segmentation, including hub-and-spoke designs, firewalls, OT zones/conduits, secure remote access, ExpressRoute, and hybrid connectivity.

Experience defining reference architectures, implementation patterns, and governance processes that scale across multiple sites and business units.

Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional architecture reviews and align security, infrastructure, networking, operations, and business stakeholders.

Hands-on experience with Azure security controls and identity solutions.

Strong background in OT/ICS security, Zero Trust principles in industrial environments, and IT/OT convergence.

Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively at senior leadership levels.

Must be U.S.-based and authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with industrial data platforms and OT applications (historians, industrial protocols, OT data collection technologies, and secure methods for exposing operational data).

Experience developing OT cloud adoption strategies and moving operational workloads or applications into Azure or similar environments.

Background in refining, midstream, chemicals, energy, or other process industries.

Familiarity with OT-relevant frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-82, and IEC 62443.

Prior experience supporting executive-level briefings on technical pilot outcomes and architecture recommendations.

Timeline

The pilot is targeted for September/October 2026, creating an immediate need to identify and onboard the architect. The technical build team is already considered strong; the primary risk is the current architecture leadership gap.
