Depending on business need and job suitability, this position may be a candidate for telework, subject to management approval.
SALARY SCHEDULE: NC08
SALARY Range: $42,500 - $57,165
Department Mission:
Under the Department of Commerce, the mission of the Division of Employment Security is to administer the unemployment insurance system for the state of North Carolina by delivering efficient, effective and quality service.
Description of Work:
This position is located in the Adjudication Unit with the Division of Employment Security and will report directly to the Adjudication Program Supervisor. Upon completing the 16-18 week training the employee in this position will determine an applicant’s eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits based on the reason the individual separated from their last employer. Employees review and evaluate claim information and, if needed, investigate conflicting information provided by applicants and employers. Employees also ensure that all pertinent information used to evaluate the claim is documented in the case file and apply applicable law to issue formal eligibility determinations. This position also requires considerable interpretation of laws and rules and the ability to analyze facts to determine the appropriate course of action. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. This position is physically located in Raleigh, North Carolina, Wake County.
